Burrard Street Sharp Thompson Berwick & Pratt 1955
This landmark modernist building has recently been converted into condominium units and is now called The Electra. The entire building was sold out the weekend the condos went on sale in 1993. Facade is made of porcelain. I think this building looked even better with the green and blue BC Hydro logo pasted onto the mechanical room on the roof but it was removed when the company vacated the building. Blue and green tile mosaics decorate the podium. This was the first post-war building in Vancouver to become a heritage building. |
